No to social media yes to gratitude
I blocked news feed section of Facebook and deleted my Instagram.
I experience things I wrote below and wanted to share :)
- I no longer take photographs that much. It seems many photos were just a proof of me existing in that scenario, which did not mean much.
- I no longer take photographs of things to show people. Just for myself or for my Gratitude app.
- I no longer think what to post or what to document in my story section.
- I no longer feel envy towards others being at the stage I want to be in or having material goods that I want.
- I am no longer bombarded with pictures and ads that do not serve me but take my valuable time away where I could be doing something better.
As a consequence of these inactions my brain has more spaces to think freely without being told what to think or what to see. I have more time to do more meaningful tasks such as exercise, meditation, working on my projects and engaging in more creative tasks.
My sister said that human mind tend to think in a negative way and it becomes a habit, thus we need to instill a positive way of thinking through practice. The best practice you can do is through practice of gratitude. I have downloaded an app Gratitude. It is so simple and no registration is required. You just need to write what you are grateful for that day and you can put some pictures if you want.
So simple but effective!
